The Corner Radius End Mill combines the advantages of ball nose end mill and flat end mill. The curve surface of the cutter head is not as big as that of the ball nose end mill, but only a small radian angle, so the tip of flute will not easily wear out as ball nose end mill.
Because the center point of the ball nose end mill is always static in high speed milling, which makes the tip of ball nose end mill act to the workpiece in a grinding way instead of milling, so the end of flute is easily wear out, corner radius end mill doesn’t have this problem. At the same time, the bottom of the end mill maintains the characteristics of the flat end mill. Which enables it to mill flat workpiece surface in a good quality. However, the range of the curved surface can be milled by corner radius end mill is not wide, it is suitable for small angle curved surface milling, you need to use ball nose end mill for big angle curved surface milling.
